How climate change, global warming, sea level rise, reduced biodiversity, environmental pollution and anthropogenic activities including globalization and urbanization will impact on the health of ecosystems and humans, and how we will adapt to the global change. Department of Earth System Science at Tsinghua University took the lead to complete the invited report “Healthy Cities in China”, with the commission from worldwide famous journal “Lancet”. This report is aiming to make comments on the researches and experiences about healthy cities in China and around the world, especially in developing countries, and analyze the similarities and differences between China and the world so as to find out the deficiencies and provide solutions for healthy cities in knowledge, social economy, culture and policy. Also, this report will provide new knowledge, concept, platform and information. This is the first time that Lancet committed such a work to a Chinese university since its establishment over 200 years ago.
